Managed to fix it and get it back up and running. Turned out to be a spark plug located down below that had blown off. The loose hose was just the one that fits over it. Put in a new plug, reconnected the line and it was good to go.

Thanks for all the input

How did the threads on the spark plug, or in the head look? Hopefully the threads in the head aren't stripped out.
Spark plugs don't just "blow off".

In all these years, I've never had a plug loosen on me. You using a socket, or finger tightening them?

Wait what? In 30 years of working on cars I have see maybe 3 pugs that came loose. 2 of those times required the head to be removed to get the thread repaired correclty. In the 5 year I have been on this site this is the first person who had a plug almost falling out.

If you plugs are coming loose every 6 month SOMTHING is wrong. Either with the head, the plugs or the install process.

when I bought the car it had a jasper motor in it with about 50,xxx miles on it. I replaced the plugs because that's one of the things I do when I first get a car. I do know how to change plugs. I have done it many, many times I tighten thm by hand then use a ratchet and socket to tighten them down and have never had one come loose on me. my best guess is the problem is with the rebuilt heads because it always happens on cyl. 4 and 5.

Could be the threads in the head but I would suspect those cylinders are getting hot. Most likely lean condition. That can cause the plug to swell and work it way loose.

Next time your under there pull a loose one out and look for white-ish color or pitting on the plug. This would be due to a bad injector or a localized vacuum leak.

I always pull them and the always look good. Defiantly no vacuum leaks I just had the intake manifold off to change the oil pump dive.

I would try new plugs or rotate the problem ones to different cylinders to see if the issue stays with the plug. If it is a thread issue I would us Loctite Blue 242 to lock the plugs down. DO NOT use the more common Red Loctite cause that is designed to never come loose again.
