Default High Oil Pressure

I may already have the answer to my question but I'm going to ask it anyway. After replacing the PCV valve on my 2000 Camaro SS I've noticed that the car has much higher oil pressure than before. I replaced the PCV valve during a round of general maintenance pretty much because it was cheap as hell and I figured why not. Before replacing the valve my Oil pressure would be stable at 40 when idling and would occasionally go up to 60 or so when I was accelerating hard. Now the needle hovers around 40 at idle but is very twitchy and when accelerating I've seen get to the 80 mark many times. The 80 mark isn't colored red like the other gauges when something is in a dangerous zone but it still kind of worries me. Is this behavior normal or should I replace the PCV valve again? That last thing I want to do is over pressurize something and blow it up.

PCV valve should have NO effect on oil pressure. Either it is a coincident or you bumped a connector while working on it.

sounds like the oil pressure switch/sensor is failing or the wiring to it is. check the plugin and wires to the oil pressure switch/sensor. you may have knocked the plug lose or the wires into the exhaust or other wires.
