high beam issues!!!

i can not figure out wat is going on with my high beams...... i try to pull the switch back to turn them on and it is not clicking into place like normal. The high beams wont even flash like they want to come on???? i checked all the fuses(even though none of them were really labled for high beams) and they r all good.... checked both high beam lamps and they r fine as well.... its a 2001 so if anyone has any suggestions please throw them out.....

when you pull on the switch it actually pushes a rod to the highbeam switch which is located towards the bottom of the steering column sounds like something has broken inside the column

yeah the same thing happen to my 3rd gen. i rigged it but it really needed a new switch.

not to sure about the 01 but my car had the same prob as well there was a little plastic piece that actually pushed on the rod that broke i pulled one out of the junkyard for 3$

If the switch is the same in your car as a third gen I have a new one that I never used that you can have..... actually you may need the lever itself. My switch was good thats why I kept it lol. the lever was just wore out and I would have to pull down on my steering wheel for the high beam to kick on lol I know ghetto

The dimmer switch is adjustable. Look under the dash, on the column left side is the dimmer switch. It mounts with the ignition switch and if the mounting screws come loose this will slide down too far and will not work. Make sure the rod is in the hole on the switch and adjust it back into the rod untill all slack is out of the assembly. Tighten everything down and you should be good to go if your switch is still good. If not replace the switch and adjust as I just said.
