Default hi all have a question

just want to say thanks to the forums operators for providing a place to learn and ask questions.
Secondly I do not own a camaro (yet) I am looking for a 96-97 or 98 either a v6 3.8l or a fast z28.
My question is, after looking on craigslist a few sellers have said the car has a rear oil leak and they have also stated its normal in the v6's. I wanted to know if this is true and if was a sign of a engine rebuild.
I wouldnt have a problem buying a camaro with a rear leak and fixing the rear main seal just as long as it's not a sign of internal damage in the long run.
is it worth it?
Thanks

Rear main seal leaks aren't normal. If you want a fast car with decent gas milage, go with the 98-02 ls1 camaros.

yeah trust me i really want a z28 and i always loved the 94-97 model camaro's not really a fan of the 98+ models. However is the 94-97 v8's better at MPG then the v6 3.4? i did a bit of research and im trying my best to avoid getting the gas hog 3.4 v6.

if running correctly the lt1 will get 25 to 28 mpg. yah im with you the lt 4th gen is the best looking. especially the red ones. lol. the ignition system in the 97 is best but all have the opti. 6 speed will get best milage.

yeah red, white or silver. Ive looked at a lot of camaro's and every time I see a red, white or silver it just sits there and looks nice. I looked on msn.com/auto and the 3.8 is 19 city and 29-30 highway. 5.7 is 16-17 city and 25-27 highway. I was just thinking about getting this z28 posted on CL, but it has damage on rear quarter panel looks like a b$tch to fix though.

LT1's are good cars, but the LS1 is where its at. The catfish front end looks better in my opinion. Whatever you get, I suggest that you get a V8 if you're looking for performance.

btw its a 95 does not list if it's auto or manual. panel almost looks so messed up i would have to find a donor car like at a junk yard and cut out the rear quarter panel and replace it. I love working on cars but not like that.

Yeah, don't get it. You can find a better deal than that on a LT1.

that car is prob gunna have tons of suspension and tire problems because its most likely not going to drive down the rd straight

NEVER buy a damaged car unless you have a frame straightener

not to mention that looks like SHTTTTTTTTT
