Default help me pick car i dont know what motor to choose

im looking to buy a 4th gen camaro i found some in the price range i want. now the only issue is chooseing between a z28 (v8) or between a 3.4l or a 3.8l sence gar here in michigan is around 3.50 to 4 bucks i thought i would get a v6 but i dont know how they are on preformance. i understand they wont have the pickup like the v8s but could anyone tell me what they think of them and do you guys like the 3.4l or the 3.8l engines. is there a difference between the motors in camaros and firebirds. any help would be great

look at the body styles and pick what one you like. the 3.8 is the v6 you will want. the lt1 or ls1 both get good mileage but not as good as the 6ers. i think theres like 4 or 5 mpg difference.

X2 there really not a huge difference in mpg ...along as you dnt have a heavy foot you could be ok with a ls or lt motor.

well im 16 and do not have a job. i am lucky my parents are giving me around 2k to find a car.. i found cars around the price with all three motors but i found a firebird with a 3.8l and a 5 speed stick but it needs a upper or lower intake gasket and a trans mount are these hard to do. my dad works on vehicals and has done all sorts of different work on cars but he is used to dodge motors.

You have to use 93 octane in teh LS1 (not sure on LT1) so even though I can still pull 27 mpg with mine, I pay more per gallon.

The v6 makes an ok first car imo. the 3.8 has good power, rides well and come decently optioned as well. You won't be able to get much more power out of the 3.8 with boltons alone

93 Octane is also required on the LT1.
Stay away from the 3.4 if you can.

And just for a reference, last fill up I got 19 mpg city, driving like an idiot with my LT1.

if 2000 is your price range expect to be doing a lot of work. just cause the guy says its only a few things wrong does not mean its true.
