Default Help me choose the right mid pipe for my exhaust.

Hey what's up everyone. In a few weeks from now I plan on ordering a new exhaust system for my 1996 z28 t56 camaro. I plan on buying a set of longtime headers (pacsetters) and a true dual catback (magnaflow) to 3" single tips. How can I decide between an off road y pipe and a x pipe? Which one is better? Can someone help?

P.s I'm also open to other complete exhaust suggestions for e.x short tubes, mid tubes, long tubes, straight pipes, y pipes , h pipes, x pipes and various catbacks. Let me know what is a good setup to get good hp on y LT1 350

you will need a y pipe no matter what, x pipe is used with a duel exhaust and takes up some room, could be clearance issues with x if you have lots of high speed bumps. off road is an exhaust without catalytic converters. if you are in a state with inspections you will need cats. long tubes will give you the best power if you can use them in your state. you are good with long tube headers and a 3 inch cat back of your choice. look at some you tube flicks and pick

Thanks a lot for the info. I was watching a couple of videos and reading some articles, with an x pipe it seems you have to dump them. I honestly am not a fan of dumping at the axle, way to loud. I also looked up cutbacks, I was looking at magnaflows but I would like something that will sound aggressive when I step on it like a mad lion in a cage. Any suggestions on catbacks? Would 3.5" tips be to big or is 3" fine?

Do you mind sharing a photo of how the 3.5" tips look on the camaro? I've looked online but can't find any, and if I did they are blurry or the photo was just taken from a distance.

Craby was just checking out your build, checked page 4. Those are the exact headers and y pipe I went with. They were expensive but I wanted the stainless steel. Man are they nice as he11. Only part of my exhaust I didn't change was the mid pipe, only cause I couldn't afford it at the time lol. Went with a hooker aero muffler and borla tips.

yep i knew i had what i wanted when she fired up the first time with headers opened up. the corsa cat back gives a very distinct sound that i still love. recordings dont do it justice at all. have been asked many times what kind of motor it is and they are surprised to find its a lt1
