Default Help from the Learned

I just bought a '94 parts car, V-6, to complete one of my projects. Problem is the guy sold the steering column so I can't drive it on to the trailer and it's to far to have it towed. Question is how can I rig some steering to keep it straight while wenching it on the trailer? Column removed at the steering gear box.

unhook the tie rod ends and have 2 buddies kick the wheels to where you want them

Great, I was hoping I coud attach a length of pipe to the gear box and put a wheel on the end to be able to steer it. If that doesn't work I'll try your idea, but sounds like a royal pain in the ****

taking the tie rod ends off wont be too bad a pipe would work too but personally i think the pipe would be a bigger pain

I would think that with the rack and pinion steering, if the wheels are straight when you start moving it forward, they should stay straight unless you are wenching on a hill or at 30 mph?

thats why i asked how far the trailer is if you can get it right up to the car i dont see the problem but i assume its not and some maneuvering needs to be done are the wheels straight now the rack will deff hold the wheels in place while you get it on the trailer

Not sure how close I can get the trailer, haven't checked all that out. I hope I can back right up to it. Wheels are pretty much straight, goint have to wench it from the rear, if there was a way to lock the wheels from turning it would be really great, if I can't engineer some temp steering system. Anyway, gonna look at my project car and see if there is something I can do other than take the steering column out of it, which is not an option at this point.
