Went to turn off the car, turned the wheels tried to shut it off and could not get the key out. Fiddled with it and finally got it out. BUT, NOW the car wont crank. Any Tricks I can try?

 

try moving the tilt up or down. can you explain more. key goes in good? key/ignition turns ok? engine does nothing when key is turned to start position? auto or manual trans? if auto have you made sure its in park, maybe tried it in neutral? check fuses.

 

need a more descriptive explanation of what it does, can you turn the key? does it click and not crank? what year is car? auto or stick?

 

If you can not turn the key at all then there is binding on the pin that locks the steering wheel. Normally you can turn the wheel one way or the other and get it to free up. This might take some muscle. The next step is to have someone rock the car forwards and back while you muscle the wheel.

If the key turns and the steering does not unlock or the ignition does not try then you have broken something down on the back of the key cylinder.
