Default help!
So im purchasing (sorry if I spelled that wrong) a 98 camaro and has a "crack in the block"
The issue here is I know nothing about cars but would like to learn.
Any advise? If so please help

dont buy it, its something you dont want to get your feet wet with. even a engine swapp is a pain in the *** with those years. unless u have a new engine to go right back in with....

The 4th gen Camaro (93-02) is not a good beginner car. The engine replacment is far from easy.

idk i learned in my car it cant be to bad. Just know that the engine will need to be replaced so buy as a roller only. I wouldnt pay more than $600 for a 3.8

agree with rfx except if its in really good shape id go to 900, if your heart is set on doing this pick up a facrory service manual for your year and model. woh this set is a good deal.

Ok, what if I was to pay for a swap and pay to go it running then woron it from there loophole?

What needs to be done all depends on where the block is cracked, and whether it's structural and in a critical area, or just a crack with a small leak.
Cracks/breaks in cast iron blocks can be welded.

I've been told by several people that welding the block can cause more problems

Such as......?? And replacing an engine isn't a problem?
As I said, it depends on what kind of crack, where the crack is located, and what caused the crack in the first place. Do you have those answers?

Any idea what caused the crack? If it was cause overheating there is a good chance there are other issue.
