can someone plz help me out. my 4l60e wont shift from 2-3 under WOT all the time. it shiftsfrom 1-2 really good and chirps the tires but will only shift 2-3 under 75%throttle or less. i really dont like the noise of the rev limiter =(. it was just really weird cuz i had 6 runs down the track where only 2 times it shifted from 2-3 under WOT. the other 4 times i had to get off the throttle. i was thinkingthe problem might be because the tranny is low on fluid or i would need tobuy a hypertech tuner to change my cars shift points.my car is a 1995 camaro z28. all the help would be appreciated.

 

Well first of all if your tranny is not shifting from 2-3 under WOT and you don't know if your tranny fluid is where it should be check that out first. If the fluid is full then check the color of the fluid. If it's brown rather than red then there is a good indication that either you'll need to change the fluid or the tranny is dying. If the fluid is red and the tranny is full then you may be needing a rebuilt soon.

 

well ya i just changed the filter and fluid in the tranny. but i wasnt sure how much was in the tranny because its hard to read the dip stick. i put 5 quarts back into the tranny after taking the pan off. but i read somewhere that GM just had problems with this for the 94-95 cars and no one knew the reason for the 2-3 shift under WOT. does anyone know if thats true?

 

Idk if that is true or not. But its not good on transmissions to change the filter and fluid over a 75000 miles without draining the TQ Convertor to! The weight difference in the two fluids is hard the tranny.
