Default Help, 1997 30th z28 camaro problem

Anniversary edition. It ran fine then went out to start it and it stumbled and died and fired back up for a sec and died again fired for a sec again and died again. Fuel gauge says half a tank but not sure if it works correctly only had it a week. Put in 2 gals of fuel and turned the key off and on and off and on and primed the system and it ran fine for a 100 miles after filling the fuel all the way up. Went out to start it again this morning and it did it again. Put in 2 gallons again and it still will not run, I hear the fuel pump running when the key is switched on to prime the system. It runs for a sec then dies? Anybody know whats up with it?

Make sure the fuel pump is doing it's job correctly, I believe there is a sticky on how to test to make sure it's pumping enough fuel. Also, how long has it been since you replaced your fuel filter, because if it's clogged/dirty it can cause issues.

It could also be your Opti Spark going bad. I had an LT1 that had the same problem and it was the Opti Spark. Also the Coil can cause that problem. Especially if there is alot of moisture in the air. The car will crank over and try to catch....starts for a second and than blaahh. I would first check the coil...that is the cheapest out of the 2 to replace. You'll spend probably over $300.00 for the opti spark. Coil is under $30.00. I believe summit racing has really good opti sparks for a better price than other places. My LT1 did the same thing long after I replaced the opti spark and that time it was just the coil. Just a suggestion.

Did you change the fuel pump yourself? Did you cut the back or drop the fuel tank? Was it hard?

The coil sits on the front of the motor with the Opti. Check the sticky guide that's at the top of the LT1(I recently bundled all the stickies into 1 massive guide to clear up some room) section for more opti information.
