Hello! New to the whole 'Camaro' thing. :D
Hello all,
Well, I finally submitted to the dark side. After seven years of loyalty to the Watercooled Volkswagen, I have done the unthinkable. My wife's family has a history rich with Chevrolets, namely the '67 and '68 Camaros that they've had for many, many years. I recently test drove every car I could think of, then stumbled upon this car. A 1997 Camaro SS 30th Anniversary....making five hundred horsepower and doing the 1/4 in the sub-ten range. I couldn' believe it. Driving it proved it, along with the dyno sheets that I'll post today....I've never had a 'pony' car, and this car actually scares me. Lol. I love having a Domestic car, with so many people flooding over to the Import side of the force it seems like the few that acutally stay American are becoming scarce. I test drove quiet a few Mustangs...and almost bought one! I'm glad I didn't. Sorry about the pictures..i took them late last night. I'll clean her up and post later! She doesn't look like it, but she's retarded fast. It's got line-lock, exhaust cut-outs, and she's built like a *****. I hope the Camaro community really is different that that old "******* driving a Camaro" stigma. Thanks guys for looking, and tell me what you think!

Doggon kids and their fast cars!!!
I didn't know that we were all labeled as "*******s driving a Camaro." I guess that's what happens when you're on the inside.
Anyway, welcome! The car looks like it's pretty clean (it's been repainted), and it sounds like it would be pretty fast if the numbers you posted are legit. I'd also like to see what it's running as far as mods, and maybe we can get some under hood shots as well.

Thanks for the love! Lol. Yes, its been worked over pretty well. The previous owner is giving me all the receipts from the work that was done. As far as I know, it was built at Carolina Auto Masters in Durham, NC. It's got one hell of a camshaft, steel valve covers, port and polished heads, BBK/Edelbrock intake, hooker headers, electronic exhaust cutouts, and its running no catalytic converters right through a Flowmaster exhaust. It has late model SS wheels with Nitto drag radials. Its had the shocks replaced with Bilstien units, and thicker sway bars front and rear. SLP Line Locks, too! The trans has a shift kit and one hell of a stall, she'll break the tires loose at 60MPH if you floor it. LOL! I can't wait to see more of the details, as soon as I get the dyno sheet I'll post it. I've drove it around for a little while and dear lord, she's fast. It's the fastest car I've ever driven, never-the-less owned. Can't wait to get to the track! LT1 FTW!
I'll take my camera to work in the morning and take pictures at lunch!
I know you guys are dying for underhood shots!
He told me it had been repainted when they put the hood on. Its a good thing, in my opinion. Hugger orange makes it look way over the top. Lol. I've never been a racing stripe kind of dude. I can't WAIT for summer, with some t-tops.

Wait, he repainted a 30th Special Edition!! NOOOO!!! Those guys are pretty rare, so it kinda makes me sad. Anyway, I'm not trying to steal your thunder by any means, but I hope he put on an aftermarket Bilstien suspension, the stock Z28 came with Bilstien shocks, and the SS had upgraded Bilstiens over the Z28 setup. The SS suspension setup also had the heavy duty sway bars (you could get it with the 1LE package on a Z28) from the factory. That said, all the under hood work would have to be aftermarket, so let us know what you have when you get those reciepts!
