I 'm looking to put some new headers to my 2000 SS, i was thinking about some edelbrock shortys. Are theses good?

Well, since you live in CA you can't put long tube headers on your car, and shorties are better than nothing. Edelbrooke are well made. None of the shorties make power like the long tubes, though.
