Default Header Install prep and precautions.

I know these questions have been answered in other threads, but I always seem lucky enough to find something that gives me doubt. I am gonna be installing pacesetters with a tsp off road ypipe, I have rear o2 sims and o2 ext for the front. now if im not mistaken the '02 ls1 does not have egr system but it does have the AIR system? if i remove the AIR system is my car gonna throw a code and do I need any special blockers for plugging hoses or such? also should I do pulleys during this or are those not all that difficult to do otherwise? what pulley mod is best?

I did a set of march pulleys but I took them off. It seemed to put too much strain on my alternator and the crank pulley wasn't very well balanced.

If your not running a lot of electronics and no AC I would say go ahead, but otherwise I didn't find it a good mod IMO.

yeah it wouldnt be a good idea me either, I have an amp and subs and sometimes run the ac when the ball and chain is in the car with me. Im just looking for a replacement cuz I think my stock ones are goin bad.

Failed: thanks for the threads. Are those two different air systems though?

Header install time is a great time to replace your engine mounts -- if you have a lot of miles, they may be saggy and could result in floorboard noises after header install...

Also I am worried my car is gonna smoke/smell if I remove cats and remove the AIR system. I will be using o2 sims for the rear o2 sensors. I wont be able to get a tune until the fall.

unless you have a hole in your exhaust and in your floorboard i don't think you'll notice the smell.

I would not cat-delete -- the rasp is not worth it to me, high flow cats will be the better choice, IMHO. Get a cutout installed with an electronic valve, then you can adjust the sound at will from the driver seat! Also, removing the AIR system should not be a big deal, yes you need blockoff plates.

Thanks lib, Yeah i examined my air system i saw where i would block it. The only reason I dont want cats is cuz I am cheap lol. but i will prolly spend the extra $100 for cats.
