Default Header & Exhaust Mod

I am not a gearhead so please forgive the novice question. I'm interested in adding BBK Longtube Headers and a chambered 3-inch catback exhaust (or similar) to a 2002 SS. Any idea what a fair price to do this would be? How do I locate a shop nearby experienced in this work?

depends on if you want a ceramic coated set or not then the set is like 4x i paid under $200.00 for my car pasesetter not coated ,good ones are said to last 3 to 5 years an if you have them double coated then last even longer.you can get into the $800.00 or more range ,or if you dont care about coated ,go less ,ebay i buy 90% of my parts

Rain makes them turn faster ,mine have not rusted couse not have seen rain, but they turn near right away,as far as who does the job ,go to different places an get prices, you may pay more but look for a shop that does some custom type work,or that works on 4th gen camaros,

with my 2002 z28 i am starting with a cat back system gives a great sound about 25hp ,on my 95 i have true duals,

what i do is go to ebay put in 2002 ss camaro headers an you will get all the big sellers jegs summit so on,i look for the best deals ,thifty not cheap

Thank you for the input. $200-$500 is reasonable. I'll spend a little more for coated, as I intend to keep the car a while.

be careful some coated ones wont last a year ,but again there are shops that due the coating after you buy them ,my 2002 i may get uncoated then get them coated real well,

??? whats your plans for the rest of the exhaust you can put headers then you need to think about wich muffler you want or not ,money save is slp cat back with your headers will be awsome $389.00 slp cat back with muffler delete is what i am doing, then just use your stock y pipe an cats ,wich can be played with too if you like it loud

Thanks for the heads up.
I think the Cat Back exhaust is the way I'm leaning.

also saves about 75lbs. cheaper then true duals though if done right true duals are not that much depends on the person they sell kits cheaper ,that cost less then paying a guy to make bends can cost alot or not ,for some guys its an art that do it for a liveing ,one only needs true duals for raceing is my thought ,or for just wide open ,my 95 is obnoxiously loud for 2 years now i found that with long rides ,if you got a head ache its to loud sometimes ,mabey i am getting old i know my 2002 wont be as loud keeping the cats but stock is too quiet ,but deleting the the muffler gets that liveable muscle car sound, slp is good i know a few guys just made theere own cat back for like $150.00 ,sound is pretty much the same

like slp its straight through sound ,where as some cat back come with mufflers, then cost way more ,those are for guys wanting to keep it quiet pretty much, but get better air flow

I'm keeping my car (2001 SS) long term so I shelled out for high quality stainless steel with a lifetime warranty from American Racing Headers. They were about $1400 for the long tubes with the Y-pipe (I went off road/no cats). I was lucky that my car already had a GMMG stainless steel chambered catback exhaust system, I looked it up and with the optional oval tips I have it's a $900 catback system but again it's stainless steel. The car sounds great (has a big cam so that helps). It was quite a bit up front but I won't be replacing them in a few years. (Prices posted are not including install.)

Also keep in mind the SS came with a performance Cat back already. You are not going to see big gains if any with a different aftermarket exhaust.

Texas speed headers seem to have a huge following. Coated Pace setter seem to not be bad. I am going with OBX but that is a budget set of Stainless Steel ones.

Thanks for the recommendation. What are thoughts on HP gains from true duals vs the cost?
