head torque specs
i just put my head back on and torque them down to 37 pounds......however it felt much hard removing them then tighten them....is the correct sequence 37 pounds, followed by 120 angle, then 40 angle on the first four bolt......

Which engine? Each engine has different specs. A year would be good too.
And yes these are torque-to-yield bolts, they are made out of spring steel and will strech when torqued which allows them to apply more pressure at a lower torque. This is why they are one use only, once you relieve the pressure they may not have the same strength. The angle in the last step makes sure that all the bolts are applying the same amount of pressure regardless of the bolt length. TTY bolts do not torque the same as standard bolts. So 75ft/lbs on a 3" bolt is not the same as on a 6" bolt.

its a 96 3.8......so i do have the correct procedure. the outside four bolts are shorter then the four bolts inside....you said apply the same amount of pressure however the last 40 angle torques are only for the middle four bolts

the paper the bolts came in say torque to 35 then 130 degrees then 30 ....is it ok if i do it the way i said first because i already tighten them and dont want to loosen them up because the bolts wont be the same.....

You should go by the bolt manufacture recommendation but you are correct in NOT trying to fix it. If you loosen the bolts they will need replaced. There is no second chance with these bolts.
