That's not a good sign, it means coolant is down in the oil pan. So then yes, you are taking a chance that the bearings could have been damaged, because water/coolant sinks to the bottom of the oil pan (oil floats), and the oil pump sucks off the bottom of the pan.

If your oil looks like milk shake and you drove it that way you should just start looking for a motor. I have seen a lot of cars with one week old headgasket and bad bearings.

I am also replacing a head gasket on my 02' 3800. I have it all stripped down to the block I was wondering if there are any special procedures I should go through (and how to go about them) such as measuring the heads to make sure they are not warped or anything else like that??? I also noticed rust working its way up the mating surface on the block on cyclinders 3 and 4 are there any special proceedures to take or am I just pretty much screwed???

Also on cyclinders 4 and 6 the exhaust valves are whiter than the other 4 is this an indication of a bad head gasket??? I originally thought the head gasket was bad but after tearing the whole engine down I see no sign other than white valves on 4 and 6.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, I would love to get this thing back together.

Thanks again

You will need a torque angler for these heads.
