Default Governed LT1 ?!

Im not sure about my car in the state it is in right now. I just recently had a new lt1 put in and have about 1,500 miles on it. well with my full exhaust, intake, and msd, i wanted to see how much faster it would be. I get on the highway, and i let it rip. im in 3rd gear (automatic) doing about 115 and it just stops climbing. i get mad at this point because my old stock lt1 got to almost 150mhp. is this a shifting problem, like the trans doesnt want to go into 4th, or did the shop that did my motor reprogram the pcm with a governor?

the computer is wehre the car is governed...so unless they did something to the computer, you should still be able to go past 115.

thats what i thought. they didnt tell me anything about reprogramming the computer. just when it gets to like 115 at almost the top of 3rd, it doesnt shift to 4th and stays at 115. i never driven a governed car at WOT so i dont know what it feels like, thats why im unsure

When you're accelerating do the rpm's just drop into the 1-2k range when you hit 115mph?

its a 96 z28, and the rpms stay at about 5000 or so.

Well since your RPM's don't drop then either you don't have a rev limiter or you haven't reached the speed that the rev limiter engages. Did you happen to have the computer swapped when you swapped the motors?

have u had it scanned for codes yet? if all the sensors that the trany uses are working then its in the tranny. a scan may show a area to look into.

Yeah I have codes but none for the trans. And it was just a new rebuilt motor, nothing to do with replacing the computer

to run the trany the computer uses the engine temp, tps, vss, and i believe the crank sensor and map.
