Default The good, the bad and the just plain fugly...

ok, got my baby back 2nite... but shes in a bad way... ill start with the good points first..
[ul][*]shes safe anddrive able[*]The mechanic says hes driven lt1 camaros before and has never driven one with as much power as mine.[*]uh.. thats about it for the good...[/ul]
The bad
[ul][*]The fluid in the radiator looks like coffee[*]if my car begins to get to hot i have to flush the air out of my cooling system by pour water into my radiator (until i can bring my car back to the guy saturday)[*]my heater tube wasnt even connected to my radiator.. the previous owner bypassed it with a connector tube and some clamps.[*]my intake boot has a small tear in it at the TB side[*]my heater core may be bad[*]theres alot of crap that needs to be fixed.[/ul]
The just plain fugly..:
[ul][*]Theres ticking coming from the valves on the passengerside[*]sounds like theres an exhuast leak on the same side[*]possibly somerod knockage[*]My water pump has a leak in the back.... onto my optispark...[*]the 1st owner pulled the engine out when it blew a head gasket and put it back in 1/2 ***[*]Theres more silicone on myengine than pamela andersons breasts[*]after the guy put the ported heads on there he just left the stock plugs and wires (yes... thats right plugs and wires from 94)[*]And the grand finale!!! it will cost around 700-800 to fix... only due to discount and the fact that most of the problem areas are in the same region or accessible with the removal of another part.[/ul]
Basically he started off by telling me hes owned a Monte Carlo SS and a Grand National AND hes driven a 97 LT1 Camaro with a 6 speed and none of the above have ever surprised him power wise as much as my car.. he even gave me the business info for a dyno shop. Then he broke the news to me that to get my car to utilize all its power its gonna cost me a pretty penny and some time, luckily hes good with both.. not too expensive, takes very little time, has naked pictures of budwiser models AND like 5 different GM engines laying around his garage lol.

I see one of my reasons for why your heater's not working was correct. As the saying goes... When life hands you a lemon (or you unsuspectingly buy one), make lemonade. That's some a pretty cheap estimate for the problems you listed. Hopefully the mechanic will do you right, unlike he who sold you the car.

Yeah, the guy who did my work does work on my step dads Benz... and we trust him, hes a great guy and an even better mechanic. He said the more parts he gets from his supplier the higher the discount is that he gets from them. Then he said its basically a matter of unconnecting a buncha stuff and installing new parts that work properly... but im pretty sure the 700 is not including the opti and water pump.. however im not sure..

700-800 bucks....What a BARGAIN!!!! however I doubt that includes the Opti as I think they are in the 400 range (both GM and MSD)

Look at it this way....when you do all this little work, you will know for sure that you will be driving a reliable car with no worries about when parts were installed, etc.

All I can say is best of luck and I hope all things work out and you will be able to enjoy your camaro.

I am however slightly concerned as you mentioned you have to keep filling your radiator and it looks "brown"-- could be sign of the head gasket

The head gasket went previous to me buying it. Thats why the guy pulled the engine out and then put it back in 1/2 cocked... and left alot of important stuff unhooked... like my heater... Im getting a new radiator and a new heater core. etc....
