Default General suspension question

So, I've been looking into more mods for my car, and I see a lot of people putting in aftermarket panhard bars. Can someone explain the advantages of the panhard bar, what it does, and what the gain is from installing an aftermarket bar like this?

panhard bar controls the side to side motion of the rearend. if you lower the car you would want a adjustable panhard bar to recenter rear unit. as the car lowers the body moves to one side. if the bushing are shot you can have noise and/or jumpy side to side movent on corners. subframe connectors and shock tower brace would be some good first steps. quality shocks are a must. the cars ride is dictated by the quality of the shocks

Thanks! As always, I appreciate you making it Barney simple for me, Haha. Now that you mention it, I've been noticing a strange squealing/squeak coming from the car whenever I make a hard right turn (usually turning into a driveway or parking spot). Would this be a good first step, considering I'm slowly trying to get new parts in the car anyway? Also, would new wheels dictate the need for an adjustable panhard? I'm considering going from the stock 16" all around to 17" front and 18" rear

sounds like a bushing or shock. oh forgot to mention sway bars. sam strano has a great set. depending on the width of the 18 in rear tires you may be better off using adjustable

Also depending on Budget and what you already have upgrading to the 32mm WS6/SS front sway bar makes a noticable improvement over stock. The whole upgrade can cost just a little over $100. Once of the best upgrades for the money. New GM bars can be had on Ebay.

I guess I"ll look into adjustable anyway, couldn't hurt to have it just in case, right? And I already did the sway bars. I have 22mm rear and 35mm front from UMI, and a BMR STB
