just wondering what some of you guys are running for gears, its time for me to swap out my 3.42's and i want to go with either 4.11's or 4.56 gears. i really want to go with the 4.56's but i dont know how she be on the street? what do you guys think

 

my buddy has 4.11's in his 96 camaro,and its still good on the street.im still running 3.23s but will be swapping out to 3.73s.I see 4.56s more on the older cars

 

i have 3.73s and love them

 

isn't the rule like 3.73 or 4.11 for autos and 4.10's for manuals? i think that's what it is. i run 3.42's and you already said you're tired of them so i'm not much help in that area, lol

 

i was always told 3.73 is highest to go on auto cars

 

I definitely thing 4.56 is to high..

 

no its not, i seen some first gen with 4.56s run GREAT times

 

well the way i see it, i have a 6spd and @ 70 im at 1600 rpm and i dont do all that much highway driving. i really dont care about mpg's. i think with 4.56's i would be around 2,200rpm. im wondering what my top speed would be

 

the thing to worry about is when you max out 4th gear. 5th has a little pull to it yet... but you dont want to be hitting 5th at like 100mph.

 

yup...spec got it right. i think 4.10's would be perfect for ya. sometimes i wish i'd have gone 3.73 but i like to drive on the highway occasionally
