Hm so i think its about time to up the gears from 3.42 to 4.10

what do you guys think?

what al ldo i need to do this (ill prbably take it to a shop to have done), would i just need a ring and pinon and their corresponding install kit or do i need a posi or w/e and otehr things? (this is going on the stock...what am i a #3?)

I think all you need is a ring and pinion set. I would also have the seals replaced. If the rear is not a posi. whats the point. I dont know the state of your car, but in my opinion, I would only go to the 4:10 gear on a sound drivetrain and fresh motor.

 

i think there may be an issue with ur carrier. u may need a series 4 for the 4.10s. and i would recommend the install kit

and the motor has less than 2000 miles on it, and the drivetrain 100k

i dont know what ur carrier is, but yes, the Z's have posis stock. i think the 3 series is the smaller, so to go up to 4.10s u need a 4 series. im not sure about all that either. i outsource my gear work

 

you can getthe packagefrom texas speeds and spect is rite for 4.10's you need a series 4 carrier so if your car has 3.42's you can move it up to 3.73's with this package > http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...54&catid=6

 

i dont know this for sure but i think some fbodies had a series 4 even with the 3.42's. this may be only later years or something, someone else will have to confirm

 

98's have a 3 idk a bout the other years...
