Default fuel Pump Issues

I posted this earlier but somehow lost my post. I have a 94 Z28 with fuel pump issues. The pump will quit working with no warning at all. This might happen in a week or a few days or at times it has happened several times in like 5 miles. When it quits you can turn the key on and cant hear the pump. I have replaced the pump,The relay under the drivers side kick panel,Replaced wiring from pump to behind the seat and the fuel filter.I have read posts here on pump problems but im lost at what to do next. Is there a way to replace the pump with a external pump? I am afraid to drive the car and be stranded. Also it starts working again on its on and i do nothing to make it work. Sometimes it will start right back up and sometimes after it sits longer it will run. Any help apreciated

Whe the pump fails apply power directly to the pump. There is a pump prime test connector by the passenger side fender which is wired directly to the pump. Apply 12 volt to this connector using a fused test lead. This will then provide power to the pump directly and bypass all normal wiring. If the pump now works, then you have a wiring problem.
