Default Fuel pressure regulator replacement

I just got my leaking fuel pressure regulator out and I bought a seal kit to fix it.

On further inspection I was wondering should I have bought a whole new regulator, or will just the new seals fix the leak? Is there anything in the regulator that can go bad?

All the videos I've watched replace the whole thing, but is that really necessary?

Thanks

The regulator is usually replaced because the diaphragm inside it leaks. Then it won't regulate fuel pressure correctly and, even worse, raw fuel is pulled through the vacuum signal hose into the engine.

A leaky seal and an internal leak are three different things. But usually if a project winds up leaving me with the part in my hand, and it's relatively cheap to replace even if it isn't bad, I replace it because......the old one will go bad on you next week!

Yeah I thought the seal kit was basically to rebuild the regulator, but then when I got it apart I realized they were totally separate it made me wonder. I'll have to call rockauto in the morning so I can send the seal kit back and get the whole unit. I though I was saving twenty bucks. Oh well live and learn.

BTW, I am getting raw fuel in the vacuum lines which has been making it hard to start, no external leaks.

It's back together, fired right up, and is running well. If it starts right up tomorrow I'll know for sure if everything is good. Putting the fuel rail and injectors back in wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I just wiggled them, and they went right down in.

Thanks for all the advise.
