Default Fuel pipe to rail not seating properly?

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas...

I'm still on a bit of an odyssey with my fuel pressure issue on my 3.4L, and I've got a problem with my fuel pipes I believe. I'm putting back together my fuel rail with new injectors, and gotten new O-rings for the fuel pipes. They are the right part, but I don't think my pipes are seating properly in the back of the rail. I've got a picture attached. When I slide the retainer over and torque it down properly, the O-rings still "sit" on top (and are visible), and the pipes wiggle up and down slightly.

This isn't right is it? Aren't the pipes supposed to be fit down tightly to the rail/the retainer supposed to hold these down tighter? Should the O-rings be inside the rail holes somehow?

if its not leaking you're good. if its leaking I would consider loosening the retainer and pushing down/in on the pipes then slide the retainer toward the pipe as far as it will go and tighten and see of that will work. if that dont stop leak you may need to pull the pipe out off and give the retainer a little push with a flat punch and small hammer, don't get crazy just push the area where the pipe hits the half flare thing, just want to move it a tad if it will. if not no big thing, just dont want to ruin it. dont want to do it with the pipe in it, that will bend the pipe as well and make the bend useless for the fix.

craby: Were you able to resolve your fuel inlet pipe problem? I am in the same boat. I removed a worn out O-ring that was installed internally within the fuel rail. The one I got at O'Reillys is way too small! I can't seem to find the right part.....mikec2156

you may have gotten the injector to fuel rail o ring. you need o ring for the fuel line to fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks, craby. The o-ring on the left is what came out of the fuel rail. The two O-rings on the right are what O'Reilly and RockAuto sell for fuel O-rings. Way too small. Guess I am going to have to go to a GM dealership. Thanks again....MikeC

should be able to pick up fuel contact o ring pack at parts store with different sizes. find one that fits best, install and monitor to make sure it don't leak.

remember to add a tad of oil to o ring to help get it to slide on without breaking or damage.
