Default FML... Seriously...

Okay... I can't hear my fuel pump priming anymore... Why would that happen?

I did run out of gas the other day... (fuel gauge is shotty)

You could have burned out the fuel pump if you ran it out of gas (the gas also cools the pump). How many miles on it? If high miles, you may want to replace the fuel filter as well...

She has 125. So, you think it's just the pump and filter?

I ran out of gas once and my car has 211k miles, still going strong

It's also possible you didn't really run out of gas, but the pump quit on you. Can you hear the pump prime for a few seconds when you turn the key to the "on" position, not "start"?

My pump is the factory one still running fine.

I just went out and checked, and I don't hear it priming at all.

best way to find out if the pump is working is do a fuel pressure test on it. 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles

When I was younger and not thinking, driving my '95 on the highway and ran it out of gas -- the pump was toast and had to be replaced.

Fuel pump repairs are not cheap on these cars due to the work involved. Extended warranties are your friend -- some companies insure up to 150k...
