i think ur getting confused on a basic concept, but alot of the time its those basic thngs, that if ur missing, can make this all really confusing.
the ypipe IS the midpipe. they are called ypipes in camaros becaus they look like a y, mustangs use Xpipe or hpipes, but they are the middle pipe either way. ill draw you a picture![Big Grin](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Ok, that picture is pretty ghey.... but bear with me. the first thing to notice is the midpipe catback joint, blue/red. Its in the same place in both "cars" and this is pretty normal. like i said, almost all manufacturers will make sure their midpipe fits up to this point so it works with all catbacks, since all catbacks except duals are going to fit like this.
however, the top is shorties and the bottom is LTs. the midpipe has to be shorter to compensate for the extra length of the LT's. this is why i say you need to buy a midpipe WITH the headers if u want LTs but its ok to get a long style midpipe beforehand if you intend on doing shorties

that all depends. i just went with a pacesetter ypipe, but half of it is fabricated 3" piping because i tore it up. questions like that are model specific, look around at some online shops and see what they offer for you. u dont need to spend alot of money on the ypipe unless you have to have cats, and then better quality is usally the way to go. i cant remember what cats slvr always promotes, u can ask him

Random Technology are the best, Magnaflow come in second as far as cats go. Remember to have your 2 cats comeing right off each of the collectors of the headers so they can get hot enough to work. If you have just 1 high flow cat it's going to seriously limit flow through the Y.

I have Magnaflows and they work fine for me, I doubt you're going to get any HP with 2 Random Techs as opposed to 2 Magnaflow, if you were using only one I could see how there could be a difference, but with two it's not going to make that much of a difference.

2 highflows are 2 high flows, just like catbacks are 90% for sound, dont worry about a little extra flow if you arent willing to spend the coin.
if you ask we can give u a "best" and a "worst", but just because one is technically better than another doesnt make it worthwhile for what you want to do. if you are worried about price just go with the magnaflows and you will be ok
