Default Exhaust for LT1

If i take my car (96 z28) to a muffler shop, do you think that they could put on straight pipes straight from the manifold back? I want mufflers on the end, but from what i understand they won't do it without cats. If i tried to tell them it was "race only" or something like that anybody think they'd do it?
If anyone has a better suggestion, (btw, magnaflows premade u find on ebay look so gay to me), i want more hp and sound from my exhaust, as inexpensively as possible...

personally i just installed an off road y pipe, a bullet glass pack and a turn down tip. The muffler shop had no problem installing on the muffler and turn down without my cats.

Just pull off the muffler and run straight pipes with tips back, that'll be loud enough, and the least in material cost. If you want it a bit quieter, you can go with a set of resonator tips, but that'll probably be the cheapest way to go.
