Ok so I did a lot of reasearch over the night and found out that the 400 and 350 are almost like twins the only difference is that the 400 is taller cuz of the oversized heads, and is a lil wider. And a whole bunch of ppl want me to do it so I'm going to give the ppl what they want lol. And i m going to change the valve covers so no one will know it a ford he he. Its the only place I could fing the ford label. I'm going to make a new thread for it too. This should be fun lol.

As a general rule the admins will want to see some progress on the project before they link it. We get about one or two "convertion project started each month" Look around you will see how many finish.

You are talking the Ford 400M? That has the distributer in the front right? Is it built? do you have any specs? My understanding is the 400 in it stock form will have less power then the current 3.8. Chevy 350 and Chevy 400 are very simulare in size I thought the Ford 400m was a monster. I am cluless about Fords, I had a friend that had one in a 4X4 I worked on it a few times I am picturing it more like a big block chevy but that was a long time ago.

Ok the 400 is technically a small block from what I read. It uses the same block as the 351 windslor or cleavlend the difference is the they gave it a different crank shaft that had a longer stroke and has bigger heads. So instead of the 3.xx stroke that the 351 has it as a 4.00 stroke which gives it more displacement and at the same time more tourqe. The differences cosmetically is that the heads stick out farther than the 351's. That's all. And yes the chevys have like 15 or 20 more horsepower stock vs. Stock. But my engine isn't stock. It has an aftermarket distibuter and supercoil which gives it a lil more horses and it also had a aftermarket intake and a 4 barrel carb with a spacer so its got a lil more horses than a stock 350 or 400 chevy. Most hot roders dismiss the 400 because its intimadating and they just don't know that much about it. But anyways back to the point. Its technically a small block so its not really that big. When I get back home ill post a link of the site I was reading this on. They wanted to take a 400 and give it 500 hp and they did and did it for under 1100 buck. Gave it 505hp and 535 fpt. So that's why i picked the 400.

So you are assuming that a 351W is about the same size as a Chevy 350? What year is your 400? A bone stock 350, when introduced, was 290 HP, a factory 302 with all factory parts can reach 500 hp. I suggest you not push the fact fords makes better engines then chevy.

I wasn't pushing that. Hands down chevy makes better motors. I have no doubt about that. This build isn't about building a drag car I knew that I wouldn't do that from the begining. I'm doing it just cuz I was told that it couldn't be done mainly. If I wanted to do a drag build I wouldn't of gotten a 350 or something like that. Lol 350 chevy to be exact lol. I'm doing it just to see if I can. And to be known as the first to do it. And if I do it'll be a kind of cool car lol. Cool to me anyways lol. A sin to others it may be but cool to me lol. Maybe cool to other ppl but oh well if not. But ill bet it'll be one tourqy sob. Lol

That will be a problem for you. Look at your 3.8, See the bend in the intake right behind the throttlebody. Its there for hood clearance. That engine compartment gets real narrow real quick. Your motor is taller and longer and has a big distributer sticking up. I think you may want to get that tape measure back out.

yeah this project sounds like WAY more work than its worth. you have deep pockets? you're going to need them. you like advil? you're going to need it. you like being mad a lot? cause you will be. an LT1 is hard enough to work on and it was designed to fit in that engine compartment.

only way i try something like this is if i'm pretty much a master a fabricating the crap out of stuff. i wish you luck...but i honestly think if you get it in there, the oil pan will be scraping the ground constantly

Hey, you know what else can't be put in your Camaro? A Viper V10, a Jaguar V12, or an old Cadillac V16.
