I don't think a pontiac block is going to fit at all. Just to get an old school Chevy Small block in there is a big project that requires the use of a sawsall.
The Pontiac 400 is a w-i-d-e engine. And a small block is tight enough in there. I don't see the 400 happening without modifying the inner fenders, which is a can o worms that could involve clearancing the strut tower too. If it's been done easier than that, I'd like to see the finished product.

Here is a 350. This one has a tubular Fame section so it sits as low as possible. Its really going to be tuff to work any anything that has a distributor in the back and a cowl hood is a must.
i guesa guy needs to have a response on file. these cars are motor spacific so if u have a 3.4 its best to stay with a 3.4, even changing to a different size 6 can be a nightmare.

Should be interesting to see how he handle the fact the strut towers and exhaust manifolds want to occupy the same space. I realize they are not strut tower but they do support the weight of the car. I'll bet the oil pan will take a good 5 hours of fabing just to get the motor to sit in.
Might want to check a few things with a tape measure first.
