Engine squeak has been driving me crazy
Hey all,
I have a 1993 LT1
There has been a squeak in my engine that started off suttle and became worse. Once it was too loud to bear i replaced the belt and it went away for about half an hour. After replacing my waterpump the squeak became bad with the new belt and at that point i put the old belt back on and it went away for about 2 days. Now it is starting back up with the old belt being on the car.
Could this be a tensioner even though the old belt was not making any noise?
I don't think any fluids are getting on the belt and also when i spray some wd-40 on the steering pulley the noise sometimes dulls out.
Any thoughts would be helpful, this has been driving me bonkers!
Thanks,
Mark

whats a rear alternator pully?
i would also look to the tensioner, it may be its getting tired. the springs on em get old and lose there strength. could be the alternator is working to hard for some reason, either internal or from a bum battery. is the power steering acting up at all?

Sorry for bad explaining, but inside the alternator there is front and rear ( circle inside circle
between them ***** of metal) those needed to be replaced. and u hear sound of like chick ( small chicken):-D wes wes wes wes,,,,,,
and by the way what that got to do with power steering?
when my car get hot the steering start to make sounds ( guess pump whine) and fell that the alternator gauge moves down!!!!!! 18' rims are the reason.

Those would be bearings. And while you could replace the bearings, it is a lot easier just to replace the entire alternator.
might not be so easy to find in syria. lol. are they bearings or bushings. i think the rear is bushings. anyways yah in the states its easier to pick up a new alternator and if a guy can afford it, one that powder coated or polished.
