Default engine sizes?...

I want to build a new engine for my 98 SS. I was wondering what engines would fit, without to many major modifications. Thanks, in advance. And sorry if this has been posted i couldn't find it with search.

no build a 402 or 408 stroker. seen some real bad a$$ times from them motors. and you asked wat engines would fit stick with the ls1 thats in the car just hav it machined and new rotating assembly

very much agree here...you can build a very nasty engine from the ls1 you already have. if you don't want the car to be down long, you can always buy a spare ls1 and build that and keep driving the car til the motor is ready to go in

thanks for the responses, i think i shouldve been slightly more specific, mainly im debating between a supercharged build and a nitrous build. im mainly leaning towards the supercharged build, mainly b/c nitrous reminds me to much of my ricer days. what would be the best cid in the engine for a supercharged build, and for a nitrous build. I was planning on picking up the spare ls1 and keeping the current one in, and just building up the new motor as time and money allows. also if ne1 knows a good site to buy engine parts piece by piece let me know. price is not a major issue, reliability and performance is. i want to build the fastest street legal camaro i can, while being able to maintain it as a daily driver. thanks again for those who posted, and to those who respond next

really any size engine you decide to build can be used for nitrous or forced induction...the key is in the compression and the parts used. you're going to need to use forged internals though. if you want to go supercharged, you're going to want to use the best parts you can buy. i'm not so up to date on ls1 builds, but i'm sure someone can give you recommendations on the best parts to use

i believe the best internals for the ls crowd are compstar lunati diamond and a few more. there's ALOT of ls engine builds and building info over on ls1tech. and as for the fastest street legal daily driver your goin to have to think about wat you mean by that because there's 8 second full out race cars bein driven

i'd look into one of advanced induction's rotating assemblies. i believe they use compstar like rob eluded to
