Default Is the engine bad?

Im sorry I am not as knowledgeed as everyone on here about camaros etc cars even. I have been told my LT1 's engine is bad but this guy that owns a shop. Everyone thats looked at the car says the engine isnt shot. The guy with the shop took the starter out had it checked and the guy said it like new. so he put the starter back in. He didnt really check much of the engine. WHen my x hubby came he checked it out and said he didnt know why it wouldnt start but the engine wasnt dead. Now the guy with the shop took a computer to my car but then sid oh yah thats right that my car had no computer. SO my friend came over another person who knows about cars and said its my ignition, and I should get a check on it with a computer. I want to know whats wrong with the car , I would like to trade the shop guy my car for a different car but not sure what my car is worth or whats even wrong with it. Any ideas or anything would be greatly appreciated

If the guy with the shop said your car has no computer, then he's a moron. Your car has a computer, unless someone stole it from you! Since it could be one of many things, you need to get it scanned for error codes, if it has any, so you can hopefully narrow down what the problem might be. What year is your car?

forgot aready, what yr is it. i think it is a 96? does it run at all? can u get it to a auto zone to be scanned for codes? call first to make sure they can do it. tell them the yr of your car and ask if they can scan it for trouble codes. if it has stored codes write them down and let us know what they are.

"I would like to trade the shop guy my car for a different car"........................

Does he know you are wanting to trade? If so, maybe that is why he told you it had a bad engine, so he could get it dirt cheap.

Looking at one of her other posts, she said the car was a 94...if that helps to get the diagnostic mind going.
