Default electric cut out. whos tried it?

Im thinking about doing it for my 98 Z. I was gonna get long tubes just because I want the sound. But I seen this is cheaper. I really want it just to mess with the imports I wanted to know if they have any hp gains? I hear they work well with a stock exhaust But I borla and wanted to know if I might pick up maybe 4-5hp.

every bit counts

I don't think cutouts really help unless you have no need for backpressure which is only on really high horsepower cars.

With the cutout valve open you will have more top end, closed more bottom end...

Yeah. I have a cutout after my cat. It's pretty cool. Even with the stock manifolds the car is ridiculously loud and deep.

Back pressure is a myth.

i have seen people say it adds a few hp and i have heard people say it does nothing. I think some of it has to do with the placement of the cut out. I would like to believe it would add hp especially if you place it in a place that cuts the over the axle out and the muffler. if you place it to early it may effect the scavaging. which will effect bottom end but will help top end most likely.

It would be pretty cool if you could rig something up that would allow it to open at say 75% throttle or at a certain rpm similar to what the z06 mufflers do. but it would be wicked hard and probably not worth the effort.

I've seen 3 dynos 1 ls1 1 lq9 1 lt1 all with full bolt ons, cams, and 3' exhaust. All picked up at least 10hp. Definitely a good alternative to catbacks. Just get some tips and its a wrap. All the benefits of a catbacks at a flick of a switch.
