Driving Camaro, rpm sparatic, stalls. bad opti?
Hey guys, I have a '94 Camaro Z28. I'm starting to suspect that my opti is on the way out :/. Just curious to what you guys may think.
A few days ago I was driving when I felt the engine get a little hesitant. I noticed that the RPM gauge was sporadically jumping up and down. Eventually the car stalled and I coasted into a spot. I waited a few minutes and it started up fine. I drove almost a half mile and it happened again. I suspected that my gas gauge may have stopped working and quickly got gas. Though still same problems. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key so I doubt the pump is faulty. My thought is Opti since I have over 100k on the clock with the original one.
I had the codes read and looks like I have 16, 36, 42, 61, and 84. I believe 61 is low R134A (A/C fluid) and 84 is from having my skip shift eliminated. Though those first three codes I'm not sure of :\. Can anyone explain those codes and what they usually mean?

DTC 16 - Faulty low res pulse, pulse comes from the opti and goes to PCM
DTC 36 - Faulty high res pulse, pulse comes from the opti and goes to PCM
DTC 42 - No activity from Ignition Control Module, PCM sends timing signals to Ignition module based on the on the high & low res pulses from the opti, no pulses no spark signal.
DTC 61 - Low refrigerant pressure, no AC
DTC 84 - Refers to the skip shift solenoid.
Yes it appears the opti is bad, and the PCM is not seeing it. However, the same condition may be caused by faulty wiring between the Opti, PCM, Ignition module, and ignition coil.
