Default Drain fuel tank 96 Z28

Sorry in advance if this is a topic that has been beaten to death but I did some searches and didn't find the exact info I'm looking for.

I just got a 96 Z28 that's been sitting a while and have reason to believe the gas is bad. I would like to drain the fuel out of the gas tank without using the car's fuel pump. Is it possible to disconnect the fuel line going into the fuel filter and then pump out the tank through this line using an external fuel pump?

Thanks!

Well it would still be running through the car's fuel pump so I see no advantage even if it works which is doubtful.
I would just use a siphon and get as much out of the tank as possible through the filler then add fresh gas and seafoam or the like then run your fuel pump a bit until you have fresh gas flowing. Run a tank through it and change the filter again.
