Default Door locked and won't open from the outside

My 98 Camaro drivers door is locked and will not open from the outside, if I unlock the passenger door and reach across, I can open it from the inside. Any ideas what could be causing this?

I assume you mean with the remote. Can you lock/unlock the door with the Key? Will the key turn like it is trying unlock it? If the inside lock is working that tells us the latch is working. I would guess something in the levers is bent or the tab on the key cylinder striped.

If the key works fine then it something to do with the power door lock solenoid. or how it connect. You going to have to pull the door panel to see what is happening.

I pulled the panel and found that the rod that attaches to the outside latch is loose, the clip that holds the rod in the hole on the latch apparently has broken off. How do I reach the rod to put a new clip on it? It's up inside the door and I can reach the rod but I cant see how to reach it and attach a clip to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try rolling the window down and up to see if access opens up. if memory serves had to go through the speaker hole, a lot of cussing and pain was involved.

I have had (3) 4th gens at this point and never had to touch that I have done other cars. I was not above using a hole saw on my own car.

Default Outside door latch has a broken clip.

I finally got a new clip, attached it to the rod, laid on my back to reach up in and try to put the end of the clip thru the door latch and it was too big to go into the latch. Many cuss words later, I was able to put a twist tie on the rod, loop it over the latch inside the door and tighten it. This is a temporary fix until I can find the right clip, but it's working.
