Default Dipstick wont go in. Any ideas??

Part of my weekly routine is to check all fluids in the maro. I pulled out the dipstick, wiped it clean, proceeded to check the oil and...it wouldn't go in!?

I tried every possible angle to put the dipstick back in but with no success. I even lubricated the dipstick with the engine oil and still met with nothing

Any ideas??

try twisting the dipstick back and forth a few times. My car does this too.

Right, literally stops approximately 3 in. from the bottom. Its almost in but not quite there. Tried twisting/pushing the dipstick in but had to stop because I was bending the crap out of it ...plus it was getting pretty cold out lol.

Thinking to remove the dipstick tube and have a look inside...

it may be that the o ring (or part of the plastic/rubber) on the dip stick came off and got pushed in there. does it look like something is missing on it.

Reviving an old thread, just wanted to give my conclusion regarding the stuck dipstick. A while back, a 3 inch piece of electrical tape made its way INTO my oil pan. (long story) Found out that old piece of tape caked onto the dipstick tube which prevented the dipstick from entering all the way in. I just funneled lots of oil throught the tube and worked the dipstick until it went all the way in. Next thing I knew, I was staring at reminents of the tape at the end of the dipstick when I pulled it out ^.^
