Did the guy I bought the car from change out the gears?
Sorry for all the questions... I was reading that a stock a4 z has 2.70?? Gears. And when going 75 you tach around 2100 rpm. Today I was on the freeway and I wad going 75 and I was tacking 2600 rpm. Is that because gears have Been changed? Or just different cars tach differently?

could have 3.23's in an auto. check door jam for GU code, GU2 is 2.73 and CU5 is 3.23 i think, I have 3.23 from a TA WS6 and its right at 2000-2100 at about 70 ish. Before my 2.73 was at about 80 at 2100rpm

Door jam? All the Camaros I've looked at had the equipment listing on a sticker inside the glove box door. GU5 is the 3.23:1 ratio in my 94 V6 and that was standard. Here's the sticker from a junkyard 94:

Well then your car was built with the 3.23:1 gearset. They are a good compromise between take-off performance and highway cruising, especially when teamed with an overdrive transmission. 2600 RPM @ 75 mph is pretty reasonable.
For comparison my daily driver old Mercedes has 3.27:1 gears and NO overdrive. At 75 mph my tach is up around 3500 RPMs! That's a real fuel economy killer.

Option codes are discussed here:

And it looks like Socom is going to make me do the math <sigh>.

you can also always jack up the rear end and see how many times the tires spin compared to the driveshaft, then youll know if they are still stock or have been switched, but looks like the codes are still about right
