Default The Dear Saga, Final Chapter

Hi Everyone,

I finally got the damage that a dear caused a year and half ago fix. I just want to thank everyone for the great help I received from the members of this board. I've posted picture I took today so everyone can see the great result.

Was it a dear friend who hit your car?

I'm curious who had to come up with the doe to pay for the fix?
That had to cost a few bucks.

I had to come up with the "doe" to fix the car and I canceled my insurance policy because of it.

Well let's talk about the buck$. The damage wasn't extensive, just the driver side fender, headlight and hood. The replacement hood cost about $500, headlight $107 and the fender (new) $80. As to the labor, my neighbor is a shade tree mechanic. He had his own body shop at one time but retired. He was retired but ran out of money because of a divorce so he works out of his garage. He charged me $2500 for the paint job and did a great job. This was really cheap because most places would charge $4000 just to do the hood.

So $3600 range for the buck$, cheaper then buying a new Camaro.

$2500 for paint? Was that for the whole car I hope? I only got $3500 in my whole car.

No, but the fiber glass hood had a lot of pin holes in it that needed to be filled and I had him do some other work.
