dash cap

Im wanting to get a new dash cause mine is cracked beyond repair. Can I tear out my old dash and put the cap on without it. I dont want to put a cap over my dozens of pieces of plastic that used to be a dash.

Has any one ever used a dash pad cover? I couldnt find anything on it.

there are a couple guys on here that have tried the cap and a couple that used the cover. i went with the $300 stock dash pad.
