Default Cracked MAF sensor

Hello I own an 02 camaro 3.8 as I noticed the other day that the top plastic part of my MAF sensor is cracked and broken. I can actually take a piece off it's so bad.. Anyhow no check engine light yet but can it be dirty and cause my mileage to decrease even if the comp isn't showing any codes? Thanks

id hit the junkyard and grab one (all 3800 engines has the same maf) that way your not spending a fortune.

It all depends on which side of the wire the air is leaking in. Either way you should plug any leak as it is unflitered air. Duct tape should work till you get a replacment.

It's cracked right on top of the housing of the sensor.. To the right of the wires on top

Air flows from the filter to the engine. If the air leak is before the wire in the MAF that senses air flow then it will have no effect on how the car runs. If it is after the the wire and it is a very small leak the O2 sensors will make the needed adjustments.

95-98 and 99-02 both use a different style MAF, due to the change in throttle bodies, as well as the 3800 grand prix and so on, don't use the same MAF
