Default cosmetic differences between v6, z28 and ss

The grass is always greener on the other side!

my oldest brother purchased a brand new camaro back in 99 and he thought it would be a cool idea to ditch all the z badges and swap on the v6 wheels which he did and to finish it off he redid the exhaust and only had one tail pipe! He had a friend that purchased a base model v6 camaro at the same time and was enthused to say the least, they just swapped what they needed to and it was a done deal. I'm pretty sure there was a few more things that had to be done but it escapes me thus this post.

That car was totaled in an accident back in 2000.

my older brother (not oldest) just bought a used 2000 camaro v6 and he wants it to appear to be a z. As of right now It only has the SS hood???, the person we bought the car from said it was the original hood?? but he plans to swap it for a stocker.

I think he needs the badges for the front fenders and rear, front grill, dual pipes, wheels, and what else needs to be done to appear to be a z???

any interior differences?

Just curious why you would want to make a fake Z28 with a v6 car..?

I've heard of debadging to look like a slower car for the sleeper effect..

but this is just backwards...

It could be the original hood with an added scoop. I agree with nj, what's the reasoning behind making the sixer appear to be a Z? Is there going to be an engine swap after that? It better be in order to back up those badges. You don't just slap Z28 or SS badges all over something, people will see that and want to race. And then you'll put the Camaro's name to shame when it loses miserably up against another v8. As far as interior, I don't think there's any differences other than the speedo.

Sixer Pride! The base camaros pack a pretty hefty punch, mine has stood up against a lot of V8's and doesn't lose easily. You would just be kidding yourself putting fake badges on your car. When you beat the other car outright you want them to know you did it with a sixer. Remember this: It's not the car that wins the race, its the driver.

i would ask what v8`s it has stood up to

mine, with it`s mods, will still lose to any v8 worth it`s extra two cylinders. i would tend to view my sixer as more of a cruising car. i like it, like the power that it does have, but i can`t wait to slip into an LS1. and it is only a driver difference when the cars are similar. stock to stock, a 3.8 will lose all day long to a 5.7.

i would really ask to, why make a fake z28, when all that will end up happening is some challenges from some truly hot cars, which will leave the camaro shamed.

you want to make a hot sixer, talk to musicman.

if you are doing this anyways, yea you will need your badges, not sure about the grill, hood will be needed, track downs those rims and the true z28 dual tips.

i dont see how the Po could claim an SS hood is the stock hood. a 2000 v6 should just have a straight forward plain hood if it is stock.

I'm in the middle of Iowa and a lot of people around here tend to be mustang fans. Here's a list of one's that I've beat 1986 Mustang GT 5.0 1998 Mustang GT and a 2003 Mustang GT. Remember it's not the car that wins the race its the driver.

My original comment was that the sixer would lose miserably up against an 8. In theory, that should be true. Obviously it depends on the driver. But either way, it doesn't make sense to 'faux-badge' a car. If anything, badge it properly. I saw a car with Z28 style badges, but they said L36 instead. Looked exactly like a Z's badge and were placed in the same areas.

And Luciora, I'm glad you smoked those 'stangs, haha.

no offense lucoria but the only reason you got them is because theyre moustangs, the 5.0 and 4.6 are junk if anywhere near factory, My ss would be 5 car lengths ahead of you before i hit 3rd gear
and to clone boy up there, get a clue, no one likes a clone, you are who you are and you drive what you drive, being the owner of a real SS it drives me nuts when people build clones, if you dont have a Z dont try to be like one, quit being cheap and buy the Z not just the badges, or be proud of your sixer

@luciora, i will agree that the driver wins the race when the cars are respectably matched. but, like i said, pit a 3.8 vs. a 5.7, both stock, and the v8 will win all day.

that 03 GT race must have either had a drunk behind the wheel, or your 3.8 is nicely modded. he has an extra 60 horse and 75 torque stock over you, and weighs a little bit less.

Oooh do you happen to know where I can get a set of L36 badges? I'm looking around on ebay for some "Camaro" badges for the side as well. Actually I need to get some custom badges made that say "Luciora" to put on both the front fenders where "Camaro" used to go on the pre-96 RS Camaros.
