Default Coolant question

I've heard lots of people and places say to change your coolant out at least every year. At the same time... I've heard that Dex-Cool (orange stuff) lasts WAY longer than typical coolant. How often should I change it?

And also... I want to put some Redline Water Wetter in my system. Is that ok with Dex-Cool? Thanks

dex-cool is the ****ties coolant i have ever used. It always turns to sludge real quick and disappear without leaks. All the chevys i have encountered have these problems. Google it.
In other words dont be cheap change your coolant every year and make sure to use filtered water to fight rust

whatever you do dont mix it with a different anitfreeze. i use the green colored stuff and dont change it often enough. i go more by the shape of the coolant and the effectiveness of it. if its color is getting off or the freezing temp is high i change it. on average every 3 yrs.

Are you using green coolant on your chevy? Dex-Cool is the only coolant you use on a chevy

I have "green stuff" in all my vehicles except the Suburban and it will get it when ever I decide to change the dex out of it.

I use the green stuff that's approved for Dex Cool vehicles. I probably change it out close to a two-year cycle.

Is it one of those universal coolants? i heard those cause many problems with chevys even if they said they work for chevys. I dont even want to take the risk.

I posted this topic for my last car which was a 01 v6 camaro. But I just picked up an 02 v8 so I'm going to change out the fluid anyway haha. So I've heard as long as you don't mix it with green... dex cool is good stuff. Agree or disagree?

Still up in the air for me. I googled some info on it and seen pic's of where it had clogged up some passages in engines but not sure how often the coolant was changed in those engines. I think one reason it has such a bad name is because people don't maintain their coolant according to the the specs. Pics show clogged water ports and mold growing in the system. I just like having all my vehicles using the same stuff, that way, I only need to keep one type on the shelf in the garage and have no worries about someone mixing them.
