Default coolant level

Yeah yeah pressure the cooling system, I get that lol. BUT, what is causing level to drop in radiator but stay up or possibly even increasing some in overflow tank? This would all be easier to measure if these reservoirs were visible

What all have you done to your cooling system so far? How is your radiator cap, thermostat and everything else?

Put new cap on just lastnight. Thermostat and water pump were put on late 2010.

As your engine heats up, the coolant expands and can spill into the reservoir. Your radiator cap works as a two way valve, and allows the coolant from the reservoir to be sucked back into the radiator as the engine and cooling system cools off. That "sucked back" part might not be working on your system, which would explain a lower radiator but higher reservoir level. Make sure your radiator cap isn't faulty. Also make sure the hose from the reservoir to the radiator is good and tight. If it isn't, you'll be sucking air back into the radiator instead of coolant.

It is a new cap unless Advance gave me the wrong one last night. We'll investigate the hose. I plan on taking it in late next week to have it tested but if it's gonna keep running the radiator low, I'm afraid to drive it far.

Found something interesting. Took the little "tube" out of the reservoir. It's a rubber like tube and then goes to a thin metal like material down into the tank. There was a slight bend that goes down into the tank and it had a crack in it. It easily broke into so I took it out. I ran water into it and it flows easily so that would've been ok but in order to create a "suction" to pull water back to the radiator, that crack can't be there. It would be like sucking through a straw with a hole in it.

We looked at the one on the wrecked car and while I could use that one, I wouldn't mind just replacing it. Where would I find one? I'm trying to look on several parts websites but not sure exactly how to word it in seach terms.

If you're talking about the hose going from the top of the radiator (near the cap) and down to the overflow tank, you can get that at auto parts store. Just take it in and ask for some hose that is that size ID and how ever long it needs to be.
