hey i was looking to buy a new camaro and i found a convertable for sale is it worth it to get one ? is it just as good or better then none convertables? please give me your insight thanks !

 

depends on where your at, on the coast of washington state i would not have a vert but in cali that would be a different story. for racing its best to have a hard top. less body flex.

 

i live in canada would it be colder in winter? and i wouldnt be racing. maybe the odd street race but thats all

 

Find a T-top. I dont think verts look good at all on 4th gens, then you also have to worry about replacing the top. T-top will give you the best of both worlds by providing an open air feeling when you want, and offering the look and rigidity of a hardtop.

 

I've had both, and liked each for different reasons. With the soft top up, heat works just fine. But when the weather is nice, there's nothing like going topless and having the wind rush through your scalp! The t-top model has more storage room in back, that is until the tops are stuffed in the well.

I've owned a hard top and now a convertible, and there is pros and cons to both. With the convertible GM didn't reinforce the chassis so every bump you hit at highway speeds makes the top shake. It's definately annoying, it's like a wet noodle.

Also my top leaks pretty bad. Like today I washed my car and the driver's seat was a bit wet along with other various interior parts. My rear seat belts actually started rusting lol. My next purchase will be a new top($1100) and subframe connectors. But there's is nothing like going top down on a nice spring day! Makes it almost worth it.

 

i am a 18 year old kid who doesnt need the most luxurous thing ha ! i play hockey as well i dont know if anyone here does as well but the hockey bags are pretty big would it fit in the trunk ? and in winter it can get pretty cold does the soft top have good insilation? ha there isnt very many for sale here where i am from unless they are rankly over price like a 1996 for 14 grand or a 2000 for 18 i found a 2000 convertable for 12000 cheepest io have found in my provence. what are some pros and cons about the soft top? also i heard that the t tops ratlle alot and get annoying as well .

 

Holy cow those prices, where do you live? Are you looking at V6 or Z28 models? One with low miles, high miles? All that of course, makes a difference.
The convertible actually isn't bad at all in the winter, as long as you leave the top up.
You're able to get toasty if that's your concern, it's not at all like riding in a jeep.

 

Wow he must be in Canada. I got my Z28 convertible for $4K and I think I slightly over paid.
