conventional to syntheitc oil with 145k

It's not bad for the engine to go back, but why would you want to? If you're a proponent of synthetic oil, then you already realize it's a better lubricant. The way I look at it, sure it costs a few bucks more for the oil change, but you leave it in the engine longer than you want to if it was conventional oil. It doesn't cost more in the scheme of things.

True True. I do beleive that synthetic will eventually come down in price. But thats a wait and see thing. Also, I use Mobil 1 in my car but my local advanced has a deal on castrol synthetic where you pay 25 bucks for 5 quarts and get a free filter of your choosing. Not that bad if you ask me. In the end i guess its all based on personal choice.

I've been sticking with Mobil 1, and up until recently a 5 quart jug was $22 at Waldomart. It went up a couple of bucks, and I'm sure conventional oil jumped as well for obvious reasons, but I don't watch conventional oil prices so can't say.

it made a oil spot on the rear bottom of the pan. i think the molecules are smaller with the synthetic so it can work its way through a smaller space. it wasnt dripping on the floor so the leak was very slow.

In my first post, I explained the sludge cleaning properties of synthetic, and the "maybes" that go along with it. If you currently have a leak, synthetic may or may not leak more, it depends on what's causing the leak in the first place.
