Default Considering a Camaro ss

Hey guys i am buying a new car soon and i was considering the Camaro SS. Its going to be my daily driver. But i had a few questions. Hows the mpg on this if i drive it really slow? It says 26 highway 18 city i find that very hard to believe on such a big V8. Should i buy one with upgrades on it or does that mean its been romped? Also at 100k mi hows the engine holding up? Is this car worth getting as a daily driver? Last of all can a 2001 ss beat a 350z rolling and from a dig?

Heres a add i found that i am considering getting...

2001 CAMARO SS PACKAGE..LONGTUBE HOOKER HEADERS WITH Y PIPE,SLP COLD AIR INTAKE PACKAGE, POWER PROGRAMMER III W/160 DEGREE THERMOSTAT, FLOWMASTER EXHAUST, 39K MILES..MOBILE ONE 5W-30 SYNTHETIC OIL ONLY EVERY 3000 MILES...RUNS VERY STRONG NO ACCIDENTS. ASKING $17500 WELL BELOW NADA PRICE

Seems like a good deal .......... may want to get a CAR Fax on it to make sure.

MPG depends on how heavy your foot is ........... easy to say that " you will be conscious of the gas while driving it " but ONCE YOU FEEL THE POWER , I bet you put your foot down a little bit harder.

TRUST ME

SO i can get decent mpg if i am light on the gas? Do you think the deal above is a good idea or should i get a SS with the SLP package? Which one would be faster?

If you travel is on long trips ........... yeah you will get decent gas milage.

Bro you have to remember , you are thinking of getting a V8 ............. it is not gas friendly. City traffic you will suck the crap out of gas due to all the stop and go and the V8 stopping and going.

Can't really tell you if the SLP package would be faster ................ but if I am not mistaking , if you are concerned about GAS .... then something faster should not be in the picture right now.

The SLP cars are not really any faster, it just an apperance/suspension deal. Some will srgue this but I have run them both on dynos and at the track and they are always nearly identical.

i think the 350z's run around 300hp @ crank and 268ft lbs. the camaro definately takes the torque advantage but im not sure how much the nissan curb weight is.

a 350z vs a camaro,

the 350z is lighter but wont crank out nearly enought horses as the camaro, unlesss the camaro has a v6 in it if the camaro only a v6 id put my money on the 350 z, but if the camaro has a v8 or better like a lt4 id put my money on the camaro, if they both stock **** the driver of the camaro could even give the 350z about a 3 car pace

Yeah it sounds like a good car, BUT he is asking way too much. I have a 02 SS with the all SLP package only 63000 miles and paid 14,700. All the accesories you listed like programmer, headers, exhaust, etc. means absolutely nothing in terms of value of a car. Yes it is nice to have all that done already but any loan you may need to get the loan company will not add that on in the amount they are willing to loan. If I was you I would say man I can get the same car somewhere else for way less than that which you CAN. Also ask him why he is selling if he needs money or having a kid or something most likely he will come down if you say I can get you this X amount tommorrow. Nice car but costs too much.

might be a lil too expensive gas far as the gas mileage......its not that bad even if you run on premium but be prepared to spend an extra 20 or so each week......i was worried just as much but the extra cash pays off
