Default Help

Hey guys I got a 97 RS I wanted to remove my cat and replace it with a pipe. I noticed there are two sensors one before the cat & the other right after it. If I were to delete the cat and replace it with a pipe would it trip either sensor?

"trip the sensor" is a nonsensical phrase
There's an O2 sensor ahead of the cat and that one is critically important for controlling the fuel injection system. Removing the cat will have no effect on that O2 sensor since it's looking at the exhaust gases that are coming out of the manifolds.
The O2 sensor after the cat is used only for catalyst monitoring. IOW it's there to sample the exhaust gases leaving the cat and make sure that they've been cleaned up.
When you replace the cat with a straight pipe the engine control computer will immediately know that the cat isn't doing anything (because it's not there, LOL) and it will store a fault code and turn on the check engine/service engine soon light. Code will likely be a P0420 for "catalyst inefficiency.

It is very easy to trick the PCM into thinking everything is fine. You can buy a small O2 adapter that will move the second O2 out of the exhaust stream. Its reads less exhaust and computer thinks the cat is cleaning.

Is there a thread that can teach me how to, and what I need to get in order to tune the computer on my 96 LT-1? I took the cores out of the cats and now I need to tune the car, but I don't know how yet, and nobody wanted to touch it claiming some law I don't care exists. I like the way the car sounds too.

If I just took the two rear O2 sensors out of the pipe, they would just be out in clean air. Wouldn't the computer think the cat was working? If so, I could tie up the sensors and plug the holes.
