Default Cold air Intake questions

yeah, yeah I know somebody posts every other day about a CAI...I tried piggy-backing off the last thread somebody else made, but it died immediately thereafter, so I figured I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start another thread.

So I would like to get a CAI for my car relatively soon...since I'm going to be doing some pretty heavy modding, I'm not going to go with the cheap ebay crap. Right now I'm leaning towards the K&N FIPK kit, but I'm also considering the SLP one. The only reason I'd rather go with K&N is because it's almost $100 cheaper than SLP.

Does anybody here have the FIPK? What are your thoughts?

UH, you live in Wisconsin! Why would you need any COLDER air? LOL! Sorry, can't answer your question. I have a K&N CAI on a Z28 that I am going to be doing the heads on but I have not had a chance to even drive it more than a few minutes because of the head gaskets.

i have the k&n and it definatly does the job...its an intake dont sweat it too much. the gains in power should be very very similar and in my opinion not worth 100 dollars

I have a quick CAI question. Does the K&N 3.4L intake fit the 3.8L? Was looking on their website and didn't show any for the 3.8L.

im not 100% sure but i dont think so. i think either there is an extra bend somewhere or even a MAF sensor before the throttle body. i dunno im sure someone else will know 100%

Check out the Volant one. I'm thinking about getting one. I found them for 300 on ebay and they look pretty good.

As far as performance goes... I will say this for you =)

"K&N is inferior to SLP."

Not by much since a CAI doesn't add a lot on these cars. Well 98-02 they don't. But as far as performance and reliability, I'd take SLP over K&N any day of the week.

i think u could get more of a gain somewhere else with that 100 bucks. tune maybe. save a little more and get a moroso. just as good as a k&n. ive had both and actually like the moroso better.
